ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Partner with HK Technical Design (TD) team to work closely with factories, facilitating processes and solving issues in country quickly.
Development Tasks
- Maintain library of patterns and blocks, digitize where needed
- Collaborate with Sourcing to resolve development issues and provide technical design clarifications under Senior TD guidance.
Fit Reviews
- Evaluate fit samples for construction, fit, balance, workmanship, measurements, and safety.
- Partner with vendor technicians to implement corrections and improve samples.
- Escalate construction and grading issues
- Approve product complexities based on department allocation, suggest pattern corrections.
- Approve artwork placement, align with Senior TD when necessary.
- Communicate artwork placement comments to Sourcing.
- Track fit status of assigned styles
- Apply strong pattern review and correction skills across all allocated products.
- Contribute to Global Technical Design discussions with relevant topics
Vendor Management
- Act as the gatekeeper to apply process and fit standards
- Escalate non-conformities and recurring performance issues.
- Survey Sample making process - detect possible gap in the process and monitor improvement
- Support building training materials and facilitate vendor training sessions.
- Monitor vendor certified technician performance
- Participate in pre-production (PP) meetings and review TOP samples.
- Prepare mini markers to support consumption and cost analysis as requested by Sourcing.
- Partner with QA for technical audits during key production stages.
- Document findings and clarify issues with sample room staff.
- Confirm unresolved issues with Carter’s internal resources.
- Train sample room technicians on Carter’s standards (blocks, grading, PLM, artwork placement, etc.).
- Maintain and update the sample log daily.
REQUIREMENTS
- Textiles or Fashion Design studies, preferred (or equivalent years of experience)
- Minimum 4 years of technical experience
- Previous work experience in a sourcing office for Childrenswear products is preferred
- Strong Excel skills (vlookup, pivot tables, etc.)
Working knowledge of Gerber, PLM, and AI
